We are heartbroken - goodbye Melli :(

It was not possible for us to foster Melli longer without risking even more the health of Lyra and Ulpu. On our last walk Ulpu got badly injured when Melli run over her. We had to take Ulpu to a vet and she was diagnosed with a minor head trauma. Just before that Lyra was diagnosed with Ehrlichia and was now under heavy medication. Our little girls got quite stressed with Melli's childish (and rough) play. No room for a overly playful 10kg puppy :-o

Enjoy with us our last walk with Melli from our house and some more of our dog life. What a difference compared to when she came to us!

Here are a few last shots of us with Melli (all photos taken by Sylvia S.)

Clips and pictures from our everyday life...

Here are a few short clips to entertain you. First of all admire our great manual washing machine as I would not call this a semi-automat.

Skippy has a few nice episodes on her Raw On The Road which also fit to here, so enjoy...

Magnificent lizard walking across the lawn:

Fact: Skippy editing a video. How to interpret this situation: (A) "Wolfi, shut up I can't hear the sound in the video" or (B) It was raining so hard that Skippy was not able to hear the sound in the video.

Do not be fooled...
... by the idyllic scene you think...

... you see here. Lyra does not like Melli at all and typically shows her instantly her teeth because Melli's playing style is too rough for little Lyra. Our foster time will have to come to an early end.
Family portrait with Melli in our front yard.

Three weeks in Costa Rica - how do we feel?

Poll results as of 18July including all the folks which voted several times ;) - Also thanks for the comments!
Shell of a cicada.
Injured Lyra.
Be aware of the bunny!
And we got a fence. Interesting way of building - Jeder Schlosser würde sich hier im Grabe umdrehen.
We found a moment of peace and no traffic in this dead end street.
Tired puppy.
Plenty of cool lizards lurking around, on top and inside our cabin.
Skippy's bicycle got an upgrade - front basket.

Tired puppy.
Collateral damage - Melli chewed the power supply of Skippy's tablet.
Wolfi needed some rest after washing three big dogs at the shelter. Then came this 60+kg lap dog - Hilarious :D

Wolfi went to buy a used bicycle for Skippy
I love my sidecar - no problems to transport stuff :D
Skippy's bicycle to feel how it goes by this means of transport. Cheap, good looking, comfortable and it has even sex gears!

Skippy's plead: Adopt, don't buy!

Foster puppy and more pictures from Atenas, Costa Rica

Skippy's vlog of day7

Machete - in all sizes from 14# to 28"
The little monkey - new way of holding the GoPro camera :D
Our idea was to do a good deed while we were stationary in Atenas. Lucky for us there were two dog shelters and one of them had a newcomer. Her name was Caramela, a 4 month old puppy which was thrown out of a car, found by a taxi driver and delivered to the animal shelter on a Sunday night. She had nine skin worms in her and did not have required puppy vaccinations yet. To give her a temporary home away from other the shelter was of high priority and so she came to us.
Sleeping nicely after getting a good bath
So shy (still)
Wolfi bought some new toys
Puppy life is hard :D
Seeking company.
Exploring the new home...

Skippy's blog - day1-3

Skippy has signed up for a vlog challenge on Youtube. The challenge is to make one video per day during the entire July and since Wolfi does not see any point in making things all over again so Wolfi will publish Skippy's videos here. In those clips there is more food stuff, less about Wolfi, less about us, more Finnish and no German subtitles... and of course Skippy is in the center of her universe ;)

The first day in our cabin; POLL- how shall we continue?

In the past we talked about the fact that our girls are not doing fine in the sidecar anymore. Thus we need to make some changes. We have been thinking a lot about what to do and Skippy has many ideas on how she could continue with girls. Decision making is difficult. Now we would like to hear your opinion of how we shall continue and ask you to vote in this POLL (CLICK HERE)!

Welcome to Costa Rica!

Hotel del Aserradero - First hotel when coming into town.
Looked like we were the only guests there.
Nice yard to play with girls.
Reception with a big "no pets" sign, and sure your dogs are welcome here :D (apparently business is slow)
Skippy went for some bird and fruit hunting.
Anybody knows what this is???
Skippy's dinosaur eggs :)
