Comment: We booked in the hotel a double room for 35EUR/night. The hotel was in the middle of the old town, about a few hundred meters away from the “guarded” parking place. We did not like it and settled for the apartment instead. Much better for us and easier for our dogs. There was: fridge, gas stove, washing machine, Wifi via USB stick, fan heater.

NOTE: there are two separate areas one left (north) and one right (south) side of the river without a connection in between them (unless you cross the river yourself). The view is different and if you are into taking pictures/videos I recommend to walk along both sides of the river. The tourist swarms peak starts at 1100 and after 1500 it gets pretty empty there.

There are a few auto-hotels nearby. El Cairo would have been 400Q from 1200-0800. Those rooms looked very nice, I saw an A/C and they had internet. The Monterry Auto-hotel next door would have been 615Q from 1200-0800 and no internet. They also had smaller "closets" which were cheaper (ok for one night though).

We wanted to get out of Guatemala and thus we arrived there on a weekend. The spa is pretty full of day-time users which leave latest by 1700. I strongly recommend to come there during the week (Mo-Th) because it will be more peaceful and the prices are much lower. It is also possible to pitch a tent on the parking lot (which is full of cars during the weekend) for 5USD/person (hot shower/restroom at the nearby lobby). There are many hot pools, a mud-steam-bath and in general a nice landscape to relax. Plenty of wildlife. There were also several western tourists. The last 1.5km is a bad gravel road with a few steep grades which might be extra challenging after/during rain.



Tripadvisor review:
The spa with its various hot pools and a mud-steam-bath offers a nice atmosphere to relax. The owner speaks well English whereas the staff speaks only Spanish. The prices for accommodation (3pm-1pm) during the week are much lower compared during the weekend. The place is easy to find however the last 1.5km is a bad gravel road with a few steep grades which might be extra challenging after/during rain. We were in a bunk bed room on our first night. The beds were short and the mattress thin and soft. On our second night we got a proper queen size bed and that was real nice making this experience a truly pleasant one. Camping is possible at the parking lot for 5USD/p/n.

This is a basic hotel without much luxury. Our room had a TV and cold shower. There were no mosquito nets and we had many of those in the room during the night. We got the last parking spot as the car park was quite full. The main gate is closed between 10PM and 6AM and it seems that it is not possible to leave/come during that time.

Casa Verde - the oasis in Santa Ana. Literally once we entered the premises, we felt like being in the different world leaving the trash, the stink and the exhaust fumes from the buses behind us.
We got a warm welcome and Carlos had no problems with our small dogs and gave us the garage for our motorbikes (free of charge). At first we had room number 2 but since we were seeking for some rest it was not the best choice. The windows are towards the street and let a lot of noise and smell come into the room. Once the traffic has calmed down at the outside (around 8PM) the noise level from the kitchen table area and the TV room will rise so it was a bit hard to find sleep on the first night. Carlos was more then helpful and the next night we could change the room to #7. Now that was another oasis inside the oasis. Away from the kitchen, the street and the TV room, we could really get some rest during day and night.
The hotel offers free local coffee and free drinking water. The kitchen is very well equipped with all sorts of pans, dishes, cutlery as well as spices and fresh garlic. Our rooms were clean and overall the staff did a good job in keeping the premises and the pool clean, the dishes washed and put away. There are plenty of hammocks and sun chairs around the place. The roof terrace is a nice place to enjoy warm evenings.
The door is open 24h and will be opened only by staff. There are two garages each big enough to host one car. There might be a chance to pull through one garage if there would be need for more space e.g. for a group of motorbikes.
The internet was at the beginning fast and during the last 3 days it was very slow also during the night, so I was not sure whether that issue had something to do with the hotel Wifi or whether it was a city/country- wide problem.
The hostal is a bit hard to find even when you stand in front of it there is only a tiny sign at the main door.
We stayed there for 9 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Anytime again.

Instead of having a daytrip from Santa Ana we wanted to stay near/in the park and enjoy the forest whole day long. That plan changed as it is pouring rain for the last 5km and we were all wet in our motorbike clothes. We wanted to stay at Casa Cristal but could not make out the road to there in that rain. Instead we stayed at Hotel Jardines del Tibet which is just besides the road about 1km before the official park entrance and just behind the road which leads to Casa Cristal.
Next day we walked towards Casa Cristal and beyond. The nature is absolute lovely, lush green, silent, clean, solitude ... It was so safe that we let our super-tiny girls off-leash (it was their first time for many weeks that they could sniff around).

We arrived on Saturday morning and did not realize that Saturday is party night and the disco was playing until 1AM. Saturday and Sunday were very busy with day-time visitors. There is also a dorm with small private rooms (nothing for claustrophobic people) and shared facilities. As soon as the wind calmed down the bugs came out and ate us alive and we escaped into the patio which had a mosquito net all around (except for the cracks at the edges).
On our third day there was basically no water during the entire day and electricity was limited to a few plugs and lights at half of the day.

The public parking might be suitable for a car but by no means for motorbikes. Luckily the place has a garage which can host a few bikes. I even got my sidecar in. We had a booking via booking.com for the next day but came one day earlier as originally planned. The hostal still had rooms but only with shared bathroom or a room with a toilet (directly besides the bed) but no shower. We took the room with shared shower and it was really hot in there. WE had both fans working full power but the heat was really heavy for us. There were no mosquito net. The Wifi worked well. We had twice no water. The pool is open from 9AM to sunset after which it seems all staff has gone. We saw staff again next morning around 8AM.

The hotel is home to a few turtles who live in a 3x3m pond.

Still it left a bad aftertaste in my memory.

I stayed there for three nights/days to get some stuff organized in Lima. Pets are for free and private parking where the garage was in the house. The owner was very friendly and helped me fixing a puncture in my tire. The internet was good speed especially in the hallway. I could use the fridge. The room was very hot and later during the first day the owner brought a fan. The room was big and the bed was huge - very comfortable. The place felt more like a private place than a hotel since there was no reception and I got the keys to get in and out by myself which was good. Besides the issue with the water (I noted it was fixed when I left), it was a nice stay. The neighborhood looks average to me, plenty of kids playing in the streets in the evening. There is a Tottu's supermercado a few blocks down the road.

The room (the one with the Jacuzzi) was pretty hot. Other rooms do not even have a window towards the outside. On the first day I wanted to test the Jacuzzi but there came no hot water as the hot water seems to come only around 6PM. The next day there came no water at all, after complaining there came only warm/hot water and no cold water. Anyway the flow was so little that the Jacuzzi would have taken hours to fill up (normal fill time is 60min). In the end I could not use the Jacuzzi.

The place is almost idyllic and 8km away from Cusco center (taxi takes 15min and costs about 12sol) thus ideal for folks like me who loves to walk with the dog. Plenty of green around and its a delight to have a walk in the neighborhood. Dogs are for free even though the owner might not allow your dog inside the room (at least she hesitated to allow my dog into the room or it was a language misunderstanding). Parking on the lawn inside the yard. very nice garden to sit, relax and enjoy the great view over Cusco. The big rooms are absolute fantastic and are really worth the money. The tiny one (which I had in the 2nd night) is about average. Wifi was fast. There was drinking water available in the kitchen. I had a small medical issue and the owner was so kind to find out an English speaking doctor who was on duty on Saturday.

The upper security gate was closed in the evening and the taxi had to take the lower one (if you come with your own vehicle or the taxi does not know it you have to walk). I did not get a key to the property door so I had to knock on the main door and wait for the mercy of the owner to open. I had booked a twin room (25m2) but it was still occupied. So I got in the first night a big room (25m2) with private bathroom (which was nice) but in the 2nd night a very small, hot room (12m2) without proper air circulation. I have slept in smaller rooms but this room was far below my expectations compared to what I had booked! Shared toilet was not cleaned, had no toilet paper and there came no water in the shower. On the second evening I tried to get out to have an evening walk but the door was locked and bolted thus I could not get out by myself.

Parking costed 4USD, my dog 6USD per night which made the room a bit expensive for Bolivia but maybe not for La Paz. My room door had glass tiles and I could see when the light went on in the corridor.
Slow to unusable internet. On the last night there was no toilet paper (even though toilets were cleaned) and I could not find the owner.
